Why choose Invisalign?
1. Natural aesthetic Look:
Using clear aligners is a huge benefit to those who are concerned about the aesthetics of wearing braces. Invisalign are proven to improve self confidence and help you enjoy the winning smile that you deserve!
2. Removability
You can remove your aligners for brushing your teeth, eating and flossing. This protects your oral health by allowing you to brush all of the surfaces of your teeth.
3. Comfort
Invisalign are personally fit to your mouth using modern technologies that mould them to your teeth. They are smooth and should not irritate the mouth like braces might.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a minimally invasive technique that helps straighten the teeth of those individuals who have trouble with alignment issues. It involves uses clear removable aligners to help shift your teeth into the correct position.
It often requires multiple stages, slowly changing the aligners as your teeth move into position. Invisalign does what it says on the tin – Invisible Aligners! We offer premium Invisalign services in London.
How does our Invisalign in London work?
At The Harley Street Implant Centre our priority is patient comfort. The Invisalign journey is a structured process that involves various stages and intricate changes to the aligners to slowly adjust your teeth.
1. Consultation
During your initial consultation, our experienced dental team will assess your mouth and perform a 3D scan of your mouth to model your smile. This will allow us to assess if Invisalign is the right option for you!
2. Planning
A personalised treatment plan will be created, along with a series of custom aligners. Each set of aligners will gradually move your teeth closer to your ideal position. We will provide guidance on wearing and caring.
3. Treatment
You will switch to a new set of aligners every 1-2 weeks, each one slowly adjusting your teeth. We will have regular check ups every 6-8 weeks to check everything is going correctly.
4. Retention
Once you have completed the treatment course, which can last anywhere between 12-18 months, we will give you a final retainer to use for maintenance.
Have you heard of RISIO?
Invisalign is not the only manufacturer of aligners. RISIO is a UK based dental manufacturer, and a cheaper alternative to Invisalign
You must prepare for several things:
- Commitement to wearing the aligners for up to 22 hours a day
- Prepare proper oral hygiene measures including travel sized toothbrushes to brush after meals
- Avoid snacking often to minimise the time your aligners are out of your mouth
- Prepare to be patient! This process can be long, but it is certainly worth it!
It is normal to experience some dull discomfort and tightness during the first few days of your aligners, and in the first few days following your change of aligners (every 1-2 weeks). This is because the new retainers will be progressively tighter than the last. You can use over the counter pain relief and cold compresses to help relieve this pain. It should resolve quickly!
In general, any pain is mild, and manageable.
- Some people will experience mild discomfort, particularly in the days following the insertion of new aligners.
- Sometimes people will experience mild changes in their speech as they get used to the aligners. Some changes include a slight lisp. We can help guide you through this and most people manage exceptionally well in regaining their normal speech as they adapt to the feeling of the aligner.
- Tooth decay: if you do not maintain adequate oral hygiene during your treatment you may be at increased risk of tooth decay as bacteria can become trapped under the aligner. Make sure you brush and floss after every meal and clean your aligners regularly to minimise this risk.
No! No, you should remove your aligners when eating or drinking anything other than water. Eating with the aligners in can damage them, and drinking sugary or acidic beverages can cause staining or cavities. After eating, brush your teeth before reinserting the aligners.
Three top tips for Invisalign
How can you get the most from your treatment? Here are our top 3 tips.
Consistency
Wearing your aligners for 20-22 hours per day is absolutely imperative for a successful treatment journey. Only remove them when eating and drinking (unless its water!), and cleaning your teeth.
Cleanliness
Keeping your teeth and aligners clean is crucial to prevent cavities, gum issues, and aligner staining. Always brush and floss after every meal before reinserting your aligners. You should also rinse your aligners regularly.
Switching
When switching your aligners we recommend you switch them at night so you can sleep through this initial discomfort as your teeth adjust to the new aligners, making the transition more comfortable.
