Dental Implants

At Harley Street Implant Centre we specialise in a variety of dental implants from simple tooth implants through to complex all-on-4 implant techniques.

01.

Simple tooth implant

Implants are titanium screws, surgically inserted into the jawbone, which serve as sturdy foundations for prosthetic teeth, either crowns, bridges, or dentures.

02.

All on Four Implants

This innovative technique utilises between four and six strategically-placed dental implants to support a complete set of fixed prosthetic teeth.

03.

Zygomatic Dental Implants

These are an advanced type of dental implant designed for those with severe bone loss in the upper jaw, particularly in the posterior maxilla.

04.

Block grafting

Block grafting, also known as block bone grafting or autogenous block grafting, is a sophisticated surgical technique used to augment areas with extensive bone loss

05.

Bone regeneration

Guided Bone Regeneration is a surgical procedure aimed at regenerating bone in areas where it has been lost or compromised. It is often needed to support dental implants.

06.

Sinus grafting

Sinus grafting augments the bone in the upper jaw, specifically in the posterior maxilla to ensure there is sufficient bone height for implant placement.

Why choose tooth implants?

1. Natural look and feel:

Dental implants look and feel like your natural teeth. They are designed to seamlessly integrate with your existing teeth, providing a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing smile.

2. Durability and longevity:

Dental implants are a definitive solution with the potential to last. With proper care and maintenance, implants offer unparalleled durability and stability.

3. Preservation of jawbone:

Missing teeth can lead to bone loss in the jaw. Dental implants help stimulate bone growth, preventing deterioration and maintaining the integrity of your facial structure.

What are dental implants?

Implants are titanium screws, surgically inserted into the jawbone, which serve as sturdy foundations for prosthetic teeth, either crowns, bridges, or dentures. These implants act as artificial tooth roots, providing a strong and long-lasting base for various dental restorations. A large tree won’t grow without strong and stable roots (in nutritious soil!).

The process of dental implantation

At Harley Street Implant Centre our priority is to ensure the patient feels comfortable throughout the whole implant procedure. Prior to your implant, our specialist implantologist will walk you through the steps that we will take to improve your smile.

1. Consultation

During your initial consultation, our experienced dental team will assess your oral health, discuss your treatment goals, and determine if dental implants are the right solution for you.

2. Planning

A personalised treatment plan will be created, detailing the number of implants needed, the type of restoration, and the overall timeline for the procedure. At this stage a CBCT/3D radiograph will be taken

3. Implant Placement

The titanium implants will be surgically placed into the jawbone. Over time, these implants will fuse with the bone through a process known as osseointegration

4. Restoration Placement

Once the implants have fully integrated, custom-made crowns, bridges, or dentures will be securely attached to the implants, completing your new, radiant smile.

Dr James will guide you through the dental implantation process. Depending on your medication history, some medications may need to stop before surgery. Moreover, if you opt for sedation techniques you should not eat in the 6 hours before surgery, or drink anything 2 hours before surgery. If you smoke, you should consider quitting as this will optimise the healing process and increase the chance of successful implant.

At Harley St. Implant Centre we use a variety of anaesthetic techniques to ensure you remain as comfortable as possible throughout the procedure. One technique that we are particular experts in is IV sedation, which involves the administration of medication through a drip into your arm that will help you relax. You may fall asleep during this, but this is not the aim.

As with any surgical procedure, it is important you consider some risks that can be associated with implants. For example, you may have pain, bleeding or infection following the procedure. Moreover, whilst rare, there may be some residual nerve damage to the nerves in your jaw. Lastly, the implant may fail, which would require a revision surgery

Absolutely! At Harley St. Implant Centre we offer a variety of modern techniques including all on 4 and all on 6 implants which use 4-6 implants to support a full arch of teeth.

What to do after your dental implantation?

After we have created your winning smile, we want to properly care for your new tooth to maximise its longevity and chance of success.

01

Oral health

Maintaining proper and effective oral hygiene is vital in your post-implant care routine. Regular brushing of your new teeth with a soft bristle toothbrush and using mouth wash and floss will help to protect your new tooth.

02

check-ups

Following implantation it's important you have your new teeth regularly checked so we can monitor the healing process, check the stability of the implant and provide professional cleaning to remove any plaques.

03

Diet

There are some foods that don't work well with dental implants. To no surprise, hard or sticky foods, such as toffees or hard sweets, may exert excess pressure and cause damage to the implant. Soft foods are good!
